Yesterday evening, the team for the wildly popular Square-Enix mobile game, Schoolgirl Strikers (スクールガールストライカーズ) made a long-awaited announcement: the first preview video of the television animation adaptation of the game!

Schoolgirl Strikers is a free-to-play turn-based mobile game from Square-Enix, with a huge cast of girls voiced by various popular seiyuu, complete with various costumes, accessories and 3D battle action. Calling itself a “Light Novel Role Playing Game“, the app has you in charge of a group of a group of them while going through their individual stories and partaking in Missions, PvP and various events taking on the Oburi (オブリ) and other players’ teams. Released in April 2014, the game has since surpassed 4 million downloads and multiple collaborations with other games and animation series, along with a Comic Channel, Novel Channel and various Drama CDs.

In accordance to the PV, we will be following the adventures of the Altair Torte (whom you will use during the in-game tutorial) team as they go about saving the world from the Oburi. They are:

  • Miyama Tsubame (美山椿芽), CV Ishihara Kaori
  • Sumihara Sadoka (澄原サトカ), CV Hidaka Rina
  • Yaginuma Io (夜木沼伊绪), CV Sawashiro Miyuki
  • Sajima Yumi (沙岛悠水), CV Hanazawa Kana

Yesterday’s live show also announced that the Opening song would be sung by all 5 members of Altair Torte, while the Ending song will be sung by Hidaka Rina and Ogura Yui. Both the Opening and Ending CD singles will be released on 25th January 2017

The series is directed by Nishikiori Hiroshi (Azumanga Daioh, To Aru Majutsu Index series, Trinity Seven) while the animation will be handled by J.C. Staff. The show is slated to air in January 2017.
