Chelly the singing voice of Inori Yuzuriha who emerged from a vocalist audition which was held by Supercell in 2011. Chosen by Ryo to form together a fictional band name EGOIST and to sing under the persona of the band’s vocalist Inori Yuzuriha. Since the first release of their first single “Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~”, which was used as Guilty Crown ’s first ending theme Chelly has caught the attention of fans with her alluring voice which has placed her in the spotlight ever since.
Following their first success they released their second single “The Everlasting Guilty Crown” which was used as Guilty Crown ’s second opening theme. Debuted their album Extra terrestrial Biological Entities in 2012 and performed the hit theme song “Namae No Nai Kaibutsu” in a tie-up with TV anime “PSYCHO-PASS.
Chelly’s identity has been a mystery since her debut as she has never publicly revealed herself. So it came no surprised when we were greeted with a veil in-between us during the interview.
Which part during the creation of EGOIST’s music is the most difficult and challenging? How did you over come the challenge?
My role in EGOIST is the vocalist, therefore I contribute to EGOIST by singing. When I sing, I am careful of my own responsibilities such as being certain of the music, and the lyrics. I also try to add in my own personality into the songs as I am quite conscious of my own singing.
I never thought of anything I did so far as difficult, but at times, I find it a challenge to sing songs that requires me to pronounce the lyrics really quickly at a fast tempo.
Understood that Ryo writes the song to the theme requested, but how did you find catchy lyrics like :”kono uta wo kikoeru, inochi aru subete wo” from “The Everlasting Guilty crown”?
I can hear this song coming to me.
All you who have life,
The truth is inside your heart
The stormy ocean has quieted,
No matter if the things you have lost are countless.
Rather than the gathering of thoughts, it is more of like, sending or to deliver these feelings I have to the audience listening to me. Sort of like to understand one another.
What are the sources of inspiration for EGOIST’s music? Like for “The Everlasting Guilty Crown” and “All Alone With You”
For “The Everlasting Guilty Crown” , it is a really delicate and yet dynamic song, I was really conscience of trying to make both factors compatible with one another. For “All Alone With You”, the emotion I was trying to bring out to the listeners is that they will never really be alone, there will always be someone by your side walking alongside with you and supporting you at the same time and to allow you give in your very best to continue.
Other than Boom Boom Satellites, is there any other artist you wish to have your music remix or you wish to collaborate with?
If it’s possible that would be great, but since it is so sudden, I don’t have anyone in mind at the moment. Due to our general of music, I believe that it would be difficult to have a collaboration, but from a personal opinion, I would like to do so with the people whom I am currently close with.
The band’s sixth single “Reloaded” will be releasing on November 11, 2015 what is the inspiration for this song?
Like the songs that are previously released, “The Everlasting Guilty Crown”, “Namae No Nai Kaibutsu” and “Fallen”, it is a song that makes you really active and is of high tempo. It is once again a song that is really meaningful and with a strong message behind it.
That’s all we have for EGOIST, stay tune for more from Ani-Culture.net !
