29th September, 2011, Bushiroad held a press conference on their new and popular card game: Cardfight! Vanguard. The event was held at the AKB café.

The conference is mainly focused on Bushiroad’s new game, Cardfight Vanguard, and its current impact on the card-game market as well as Bushiroad’s future plans for it. Here are some of the main points of the conference:

Firstly, some background information about Bushiroad.

Bushiroad Inc. was founded in 2007 by Takaaki Kidani, CEO President of Bushiroad. Their business is the development of character goods and game software but their main sales are the development and selling of trading card games.

Secondly, the card game market in Japan.

Currently in Japan, the market for trading card games is increasing and Bushiroad is also expecting a similar market expansion here. They are expecting the Singapore market to grow 4 times of its current revenue.

Thirdly, TV animation of Vanguard in Singapore.

Announced today at the conference, there will be a English dubbed of the TV animation Cardfight! Vanguard airing on okto starting from 16 Oct, every Sunday at 10:30am. The English dubbing was done by Ocean Studio in Canada.

The English dubbed series aims to break the language barrier for the game itself, making it easier for younger players to pick up the game as the show itself teaches the game play and some combos that players can use when playing the card game. With it dubbed in English, younger players will be able to understand the show better. Today we even got a sneak peak of the English dubbed version at the conference. Personally, I find that it is quite nicely done.

Fourthly, English version of the TCG Cardfight! Vanguard.

With Vanguard’s rising popularity, Bushiroad wants to reach out to a larger fanbase. One of the ways is to break the language barrier and to achieve this, they are going to release the English version of the card game. The initial English translated release would be the 2 trial decks used by the main characters, Aichi and Kai, and the booster Vol 1. The release is dated for December 3rd this year. They will be priced the same as the original Japanese version.

There will be a pre-release of the English version cards during Anime Festival Asia 2011 (AFA11). The English versions of the rest such as booster Vol 2 and after will be released next year onwards.

Lastly, card game tournaments.

After AFA11, there will be more events such as teaching workshops and shop tournaments for the English version of Vanguard. Note that the English version cards and Japanese version cards will be 2 separate tournaments.
