I must say, this year’s SHINE Youth Festival  is a very different experience for me. It’s been some time since I had so much fun doing photography.

The scene at this year is just wonderful~ I was there, say early since the festival really starts proper at only 5:30pm with the flagging off of the mascot parade by, Singapore’s recent election’s returning officer, Mr. Yam Ah Mee. Yes, he has turned into a celeb and here’s why,

At SHINE!! which like the previous year, is held at the *Scape is held on the 2nd of July 2011. The festival is attended by an estimated(by me) of about 10,000 people, with many school students and youths~

The Festival this year even have many different stages, where a constant stream of happenings are done, like on the main stage, are the children of the various primary schools doing their best to win the band competition using the instruments they made from recycled items.

There is even a mass dance performance by the students of Temasek Polytechnic. Which is quite a spectacle~

On a different stage, one that many should be familiar with, the Warehouse, is a performance of the various cultural dance with a modern mix to it.

Outdoors, there are even games like the pillow fight, Milkshake drinking competition with a Kitkat chilling out area just around the corner~ for the needed break, yah~

Indoors, there’s the Haru Bazaar, where this time, CDS have also taken part in. I even got myself a copy of their latest work, Starry Night. Other then CDS, there are quite a few stalls and a mini stage for aspiring Singers to perform.

Then there is the Mascot Parade~

A walk from Orchard Central to *SCAPE lead by the percussion group, Bloco Singapura.

The 1km walk ends with the the parading crowd walking into the main stage, cheered by the many people already there. It’s at this time for me that the Kit Kat relax corner is a godsend, with the free Kit Kat, and Milo~

All this is followed by the festival’s opening by Mr. Teo Ser Luck, my MP… and a Concert all the way till 10pm.

However the Festival don’t end there, it will be going on at different places thru out the month of July, you can find the time schedule on NYC’s SHINE website. One item I’m looking forward too is the Car form party, to wash car… Cos I think my car needs some washing… It’s on the 16th and 17th of July.

So for now, Enjoy the photos~
