She’s no stranger to audiences and fans here in the region after eye catching performances in the previous 2 editions of Anime Festival Asia. And a successful solo debut at the prestigious Nippon Budokan plus a Asia tour that swept fans away with a Big Waaaave!
Fans of Macross Frontier should find her singing very familiar as May’n or 部長 as known to her fans in Japan was the singing voice behind the galactic fairy, Sheryl Nome in the hit TV anime series and later on, in the movies as well.
Of course, other than singing for Macross Frontier, May’n has also sang theme songs for anime series Shangri-La and recently, Ookamisan to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi. Just over a month ago, she released a single, “Shinjitemiru” which was used as the theme song for the movie, “The Incite Mill: 7-Day Death Game” which is due to release in cinemas here soon.
What set her apart from many other artistes in this field?
Her unique vocal range and importantly, the ability to get the crowd going. Having the opportunity to attend her performances in the previous 2 AFA and the KL leg of her Asia tour in March, 部長 does has her ways of getting the audience into a fever pitch with wonderful performances live on stage.
And having the opportunity to meet May’n up close via interview sessions with her, she is friendly and on the last interview session, 部長 even attempted to answer our questions in English!
